Fuel Gauge Issue

After a few drives I noticed that the fuel gauge never ever registered as full even after I had filled the tank, moreover it was on empty after about 50 miles of driving. I'm not sure this could be accounted for a heavy foot! I did ask that Caterham would look at it during the PBC because I noticed an issue during the build, however I think it may have been overlooked.

So after consulting the forums and blogs, I wondered if I had the dreaded fuel sender orientation problem, so the first thing to do was pull up the boot floor and check this, all seemed fine, I couldn't really get any photos as the aluminium shelf was in the way and it was very easy for this to slice your hands. I managed a video though and have taken a grab from the video to show it correctly in place.

The second image shows the gauge with a full tank of petrol (I know it is full because it overflowed when filling it up!)

The next test was to disconnect the sender and see what the gauge read, in this case I think the gauge should now read full, but it only maxed out at 3/4 of a tank again, and what is noticeable is that the fuel gauge is making a small clicking sound and the needle is slowly ticking with it. I have a video of this to show it, you can also see at the end that the sender is disconnected and the orientation of the sender.

I sent all this evidence to Caterham Silverstone for a warranty claim and it was approved very quickly. They sent out a new gauge, I confirmed that it now worked properly and I then sent my old one back. They also confirmed the old one was faulty.
